Hablemos Claro

Hablemos Claro (loosely translated as Let’s Be Clear or Let’s Talk Openly) is a train-the-trainer style workshop series developed for the local educators at Honduras Child Alliance (HCA). The training offers comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), whilst also preparing the team to facilitate age-appropriate sexuality education activities with children aged 6-11 years in the HCA’s ongoing programming.

Context

Honduras is one of the seven countries in Central America. According to recent estimates, almost three-fourths of its population live in poverty, and over half of the population in extreme poverty; many Honduras have no access to basic healthcare or an education.

Against this backdrop, Honduras ranks first in terms of femicide rate (with approximately 95% of the cases going unpunished), has the highest adolescent birth rate in Central America, and continues to ban abortion and emergency contraception in all circumstances, including rape.

Program Summary
